4 weeks to go! What’s been going on for the past 3 months?

Hi everyone, sorry we realised we hadn’t said anything in 3 months… It’s all been a bit hectic as we prepare to go in just 4 weeks! Here’s a quick update of what we’ve been up to– we promise to update you more regularly going forward!

We built a scooter and sidecar…

Well I say we. I mean Charlie, Richard and the gang built it…

They put a custom-built trial style sidecar on to the side of a Honda SH300i scooter . It can get up to 75 mph (going downhill) and it’s pretty comfy too – Matt was rocked off to sleep after about 7 minutes on the road! We’ll do a proper blog all about it and how it was made over the next couple weeks. But in a nut shell it’s fantastic and they’ve done a sterling job!

As soon as we had worked out how to drive it..  Next up was showing it off.

First things first we took it back to the guys at Flight Centre to show them just what they’d invested in. We thought we should send it straight to the top of the company so we met with one very recognisable man…

Some people know him for being the man that hasn’t frowned since the 90’s, others know him for the reason that Aquafresh made it big, we know him as the Flight Centre Captain…

Next on the agenda was showing it to the world so we’ve been to event after event publicising our plans to circumnavigate the globe on a scooter with a sidecar. To kick things off we took the sidecar to Brackley Fesitval of Motorcycling where they literally close the town off for the day. Then we spoke at the amazing Overland Event which is an absolute must visit for anyone interested in adventure overland travel. After that it was a week of publicising stuff with the world famous Ace Café and finally we popped in to the village next door to Reece for the Wardington bike day.

We met some great characters too – who told us everything we need to know about scooters and sidecars – including Roger Redbeard and Bob the Bear – both of whom are hoping to join us on our London to Paris rally.

In between all of that though we still found the time to run our own event – The South London Soul Chain! This little fundraiser was organised with Child.org and around 15 of us grooved along the Green Chain in South London to the sound of Soul music – we had a huge amount of fun and it raised a whopping £800 to be split between the two causes.

In amongst all this we’ve also been doing some more work with our UK charity partner Unseen and went to cook a curry with a survivor of modern day slavery who they support. There will be a little film of how that went coming out in the build up to our London to Paris Rally against modern day slavery.

Which is what’s coming up next. In just 4 weeks on the 21/10/17 we’ll be setting off from the Ace Café at 7am and heading out to Paris. With us will be a mixture of scooters, sidecars, cars, motorbikes and other vehicles, all riding in convoy to Paris in order to raise awareness of modern day slavery in the UK and abroad. You can still come along to the rally too! It’s just £25pp to enter which includes your return ticket on the Eurotunnel, breakfast at Ace Café London and a rally goodybag including your very own rally t-shirt! Check out the event page here for more info!

If you can’t make the rally but still want to say hi before we set sail then you could come along to our Byfield Gig night on the 29th September where there will be pints flowing and two cracking bands playing! Grab your tickets here if you can make it!
