Happy New Year !
We’ve made it as far as Riga, Latvia. We spent Christmas day on the road heading to Saint Petersburg and arrived there on Boxing Day evening. The following day we left Russia after 6 weeks of driving across this massive country. We had a brilliant time hanging out with all of the amazing people in Russia but we are pleased to be on our way home and heading for the UK! Russia didn’t let us out without one last fight though and we broke down just a few kilometres before the border. It was a broken bearing in the sidecar wheel. Funnily enough, it was nearly a year to the day that this bearing went and we had our first proper breakdown in the Sahara desert. We were a lot more prepared this time though and rather than taking a couple of days to fix, it just held us up for a couple of hours.
We made it through to Tallinn the day after that where we spent new years eve hanging out with Chelsea and Hannah. We had a few days of drinking mulled wine and exploring the city – it was great fun! We’re back on the road now and after another broken bearing yesterday we’re in Riga, Latvia.
We’re well on track to return home to the UK in time for our return to the Ace Cafe London. We should arrive at around 2pm but we’ll be organising a ride in before that so keep an eye on the facebook event if you fancy coming along! If you can’t make it to that one and you’re in the Banbury area, then come along to the Town Hall the following afternoon. Charlie, Gareth and a couple of other Banbury guys have arranged for us to be welcomed back by the town mayor! Should be good fun – we’ll keep you in the loop with all of the details closer to the time but for now keep Sunday 20th free if you want to come along!
Thanks for all of your support! We’ll email you next week when we’ll be just a week away from finishing this crazy adventure!
