On the 21st of October 2017 we will saddle up our sidecar and set sail on the first ever circumnavigation of the globe on a scooter with a sidecar.
The project is now confirmed as an Official Guinness World Record attempt, titled ‘Longest Journey by Scooter and Sidecar’, and it will be the first time anyone has ever attempted a full circumnavigation of the globe on this kind of vehicle. Ahead of us will be 18 gruelling months of dragging our completely inappropriate mode of transport through the world’s most challenging environments. On our 40,000 mile long route we will cross through over 50 countries and meet people from all different walks of life. Through linking up with local organisations everywhere we go, we will be getting a real insight in to what life is like in the places we visit. We hope that the stories we share from these places will create a more personally connected world and in turn inspire more conscientious and compassionate decision making from all of us back home.
We’ve been working on this expedition for 2 years now and in that time we’ve managed to turn some silly dream we thought up in a dingy flat in to a reality.
As well as a lot of less exciting, behind the scenes stuff, we have:
- Put on two fundraising events
- Gone from Lands End to John O’Groats on learner bikes in December to test our mettle.
- Talked in schools
- Interviewed people fighting for a more equal world
- Formed partnerships with some fab organisations
- Been put to the test by Survival Wisdom
- Learnt to ride a motorbike…
- and even been on TV (That’s Oxford TV… but it’s still TV)
But now we go in just 129 days!

- Raise enough money to go
- Fine tune our route
- Sort out a lot of paperwork
- Learn how to put up a tent
- Get a tent
- and a lot, lot more.
All of this takes a ridiculous amount of time and its going to be nigh on impossible to do it alone – we need your help (especially with the tent).
